First CTS Aluminum Tilt Trailer Delivered For P420 Catamaran

Owned by Scott Favre, a Performance Powerboats P420 catamaran will be traveling in style on an all-aluminum hydraulic tilt trailer for CTS Custom Trailers. It is the first such trailer from the Muscatine, Iowa, manufacturer.

Performance Powerboats P420 catamaran owner Scott Favre now has a tilt aluminum to trailer from CTS Custom Trailers to move his prize down the road.

“Scott was really interested in our aluminum tilt trailer, something we’ve been putting a lot of time and research and design into,” said Jon Smiley, the vice-president of sales for the company. “When the opportunity came up to build a new tilt for his P420 that Performance Boat Center and Powerboats had in the works, we got together with Performance Boat Center co-owner Brett Manire and put a game plan in place.

Favre, who also owns an MTI-V 42 center console, is delighted with the new hauling platform for his 42-foot outboard-engine-powered cat.

“It’s great—it tows fantastic,” he said. “Plus being that it is aluminum, I can launch it in saltwater. It’s definitely a game-changer for me.”

CTS sweated the details in every aspect of the build.

Structural integrity was of paramount importance for the CTS design and construction team.

“We went with a fully reinforced gooseneck design for added stability and developed a ballast system to keep the necessary weight in the frame,” Smiley explained. “Scott’s trailer ended up with triple 8,000-pounds axles, our oversized gooseneck toolbox, a spare hub assembly, RGB Boogey Lights in the cradle and under the frame, a battery charger, shore power hookup and plenty more custom touches.”

The company is rightly proud of its tilt aluminum creation.

The new first-of-its kind aluminum tilt trailer features a fully reinforced and ballasted frame designed for optimal safety and balance, according to a press release from the company. It includes an aluminum gooseneck frame with an oversized integrated toolbox and a dedicated control box for the electronic and hydraulic systems.

Additional features include 17-1/2-inch forged Alcoa wheels with commercial-grade tires, a mounted spare with spare hub assembly, full-length decking, side marker LED lighting every three feet, dual pairs of stop/tail/turn lights, a custom Seadek package and Department of Transportation-compliant strobes and tie-downs.
