Exploring Stuart

Exploring Stuart

We have grown to really love Stuart, Florida, in just the few short weeks we have been here. While we continue to complete last-minute projects and maintenance on the boat and Evan gets settled into his new role at work, we have been spending a great deal of our free time exploring Stuart. From the quaint but lively downtown scene to the waterfront boardwalk, there is something for everyone here.

Unfortunately for our wallets, there are so many restaurants and cafes to try and we’ve only scratched the surface. This week we tried Blue Door Coffee Bar and The Roasted Record for coffee (both wonderful), and enjoyed Thai food at Noodle World with friends (also wonderful).

Speaking of friends, we’ve been enjoying getting to know many people at the marina, and even participated in an oyster night with some fellow mooring field neighbors! Most everyone is quick to offer a helping hand, like when we were loading up our lithium batteries to the dinghy, which are 60 pounds each!

We again don’t have much of an update on our solar panel project as we have someone coming onboard in the upcoming week to take a look at the current wires. As Evan began to wire the panels, he found that the current system was a bit of a jumbled mess and wanted to play it safe with a second opinion. The last thing we want is to start a fire onboard. You can however check out our latest YouTube video where we mount the panels with the help of some friends.

If you want to see what an average grocery run looks like for us, head on over to our Instagram @navigatingnietzels where I recently posted a reel. We’re hoping to continue with short, fun videos like this from week to week.

Wish us luck as the week ahead looks like it might be a rainy one! I may be setting some buckets out to catch the rainwater and give our decks a good scrub down. We’ll also be changing our oil for the first time so stay tuned for an update on that. Cheers to continuing the adventure!
