Dirty Money Racing Super Cat Team Selects Go-Fast Community Notables For Cockpit Duty

For more than a decade, South Florida-based Brand X Hi-Performance Marine principal Jason Ventura and Bill Pyburn, Jr., his longtime customer and friend who lives in the northern part of the state, have worked closely together on the well-known and respected custom high-performance powerboat enthusiast’s many exquisite catamarans. But come 2023, they’ll be sharing the cockpit of a Super Cat-class Skater Powerboats 388 catamaran raceboat purchased earlier this month (read the story) and dubbed Dirty Money Racing by new owners Beau and Tiffiney Renfroe of Atlanta, Like Pyburn, the Renfroes are longtime Ventura friends and Brand X Hi-Performance Marine customers.

Ventura will drive the 38-foot catamaran, which previously ran as Justice League, Gone Again and STIHL, powered by HRE Super Cat-class spec engines and will be the team’s crew chief. Pyburn will throttle. In 2021 and 2022, Ventura gained substantial experience in the class as the alternate driver and full-time crew chief for the Chariots of Fire/Liquor Split team with his longtime friend Jimmy McIntyre.

“That is what I know, what I do every day,” said Ventura in a press release from the team. “I am surrounded by speed enthusiasts who are putting me in the position to take them racing and bring in some wins and visibility.”

The Dirty Money Racing team will be sponsored by Powerhouse Recycling, a Salisbury, N.C.-based company owned by powerboat enthusiasts Chris and Mike Kennedy. The privately held firm is “a certified electronics recycling, secure data destruction and IT asset buybacks company that simplifies electronic recycling for major companies countrywide,” according to the release. The company reportedly recycles more than 75 million pounds of electrical equipment each year in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean, while “maintaining the data security of its customers.”

According to Ventura, the team is open to co-sponsors consistent with its primary backer’s recycling them. “We are all in businesses looking to do the right thing to dispose of all the materials we use and discard,” he said in the release.

Ventura added that he’s pumped up for the 2023 Super Cat season, which could see as many as 11 teams in the category, according to class representative Tyler Miller of the M CON team.

“We know this boat can do it and we are psyched to bring a new sponsor and owner to the field to share the excitement. “We thank Powerhouse Recycling and are ready to go racing.”
