Racing: CMR Extends Sponsorship Deal With Powerboat P1 For Three Years

While there are various ways to measure the success of any given one-year motorsports series sponsorship, the easiest—and most revealing—is if the sponsor returns for another season. That makes Florida-based CMR Roofing and Construction’s decision to come back as a Powerboat P1 backer for not one but three years a rather solid success.

“Powerboat P1 has been a rewarding partnership for CMR, and we are excited to extend our sponsorship through the 2024 season,” said Steve Soule, the chief executive officer of CMR Construction and Roofing in a Powerboat P1 press release this morning. “I’m very pleased with the opportunities that Powerboat P1 has provided us. In addition to tremendous visibility in the U.S. and internationally, we’ve leveraged our VIP benefits to deepen relationships with commercial clients, connect with new prospects, and provide exciting race day experiences for our team. We look forward to seeing all we can accomplish with this partnership over the coming years.”

According to the release, the comprehensive sponsorship package will see CMR receive television exposure through P1’s broadcasts in the United States and internationally, title sponsorship of the welcome events at races in the APBA Offshore National Championship Series from May through October, branding on the podium backdrop at P1 events with additional signage on the race site, VIP hospitality, and ongoing coverage through P1’s social media and public relations program.

With more than 500 employees, CMR currently is the tenth-largest roofing operation in the United States. The company is celebrating its 20th anniversary this month, and though it did have motorsports sponsorship before backing Powerboat P1 last year was the company’s first foray into offshore racing. Guided by Powerboat P1, CMR’s relationship with Shaun Torrente Racing gave the company “first-hand involvement with highly professional racers in the offshore championship’s largest and most competitive class,” according to the release.

Flying CMR Roofing and Construction colors all season, the team took first place overall in the Super Stock class during the hard-fought, eight-race 2021 American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championships Series.

As noted above, Powerboat P1 brokered the partnership between CMR and Shaun Torrente racing. This year is different.

“Our new three-year agreement with CMR does not include the boat naming rights deal, so that will be for CMR to discuss directly with Shaun Torrente Racing,” said Roy Mantle of Powerboat P1.”

Said Powerboat P1 chief executive officer Azam Rangoonwala, “CMR has been a very committed partner, and we have worked closely with them to expand their network and deliver tangible, commercial results to meet their business needs.”

The P1 Offshore season and eight-race APBA Offshore National Championships Series begins May 19-22 in Cocoa Beach, Fla.
