Racing: Classes Plugged Into Key West World Championship Race Schedule
In a welcome move for offshore racing fans who don’t want to miss a minute of action next Wednesday, Friday and Sunday during the American Power Boat Association/Union Internationale Motonautique Offshore World Championships in Key West, Fla., event producer Race World Offshore has tentatively assigned classes to its already released racing schedule. Here’s a quick breakdown:

Race No. 1, 10 a.m.—All Bracket classes. There currently are 13 Bracket teams registered and spread across four classes with the largest class of five entries in Bracket 300.
Race No. 2, 12:30 p.m.—Class 1 and Extreme. The Class 1 fleet currently has five teams registered. A trio of teams is registered for the Extreme class.
Race No. 3, 1:30 p.m.—Super Stock. The largest class in the event, Super Stock currently has 11 registered teams.
Race No. 4, 2:30 p.m.—Super Cat and Factory 450R Stock. With nine teams registered, the Super Cat class is seeing its best turnout in 20 years. The Factory 450R Stock has five teams registered, the largest fleet of year in the class, which became official this year.
Note: All start times and classes in each are subject to change.
Each race will be streamed live on the Race World Offshore Facebook page. Rick Lopez and Todd Swofford of “The Zone” 97.7 FM Sports Radio, as well as several special guests, will handle the broadcasts.
On Thursday, November, 10, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Lopez and Swofford also will be broadcasting live from the Sandbar Sports Grill ahead of the Speed On The Water “Racing To Rebuild” Key West Bash—presented by CMR Construction and Roofing—benefitting Samuel’s House and the Fort Myers Beach #WeAreFMB recovery fund.
