An online auction organised by Sunsail, has raised £20,538 in three weeks for the UK’s NHS and Turn to Starboard charity.
The yacht charter company wanted to express its gratitude to all NHS staff and its chosen charity during the coronavirus pandemic.
“I’d like to thank our incredible sailing community, our partners and every member of the Sunsail team who have worked tirelessly to get this auction together in such a short amount of time,” said Kate Staniforth, senior marketing manager for Sunsail.
“I’d also like to thank every person who has placed a bid on these amazing lots. You have made a huge difference and all money raised will be divided equally between the NHS and Turn to Starboard, a charity close to our hearts. We are living through very challenging times and to be able to come together and support those in need has been a real honour.”
Experiences and items up for grabs included a sailing day aboard a new Sunsail 41.0 yacht.
There were also 14 sailors offering up their time, including Sunsail ambassador, Dee Caffari MBE – whose lot raised an impressive £1,400.
