Celebrate the Ice Breaker Festival at the Michigan Maritime Museum

Head out Saturday, February 1st for the Ice Breaker Festival at the Michigan Maritime Museum! Activities on the museum campus take place from 10am to 3pm and include hot beverages, warming stations, games, a chili cook-off in partnership with Captain Lou’s, and ice carving by South Haven High School students.

Attendees enjoy $5 admission to the museum all day as part of the “Ice Breaker Special.” Guided tours of the Van Oort Boatshoed Coast Guard exhibit offer an inside look at the US Coast Guard along with opportunities to interact with members of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. Michigan Maritime Museum On-Water Fleet Captain Kirk Hoffman will give a special lecture at noon, sharing how the 1941 Motor Lifeboat 36460 came to be at the museum and how it showcases Great Lakes maritime history. Stay for a Q&A with museum volunteer and USCG Station South Haven veteran Dave Richards to hear about his history with the South Haven Station Coast Guard in the 1960s and his current experience at the Michigan Maritime Museum.
