Bahamas Bound 2025, Part I—The Complete Series

A traditional poker-run in name only, the Florida Powerboat Club’s annual trek to the Bahamas has almost nothing to do with cards or who ends up with the best hand. In fact, as proven during the event-producer’s last week’s 34th anniversary trek to the fabled islands, poker is the last thing on the mind of anyone who chooses to participate in the six-day adventure. Club president Stu Jones plans curates the trip. He chooses destinations and sets up experiences for the group.

One adventure after the next—that’s the best way to describe the Florida Powerboat Club Bahamas Poker Run.
Then it’s up to them to embrace and enjoy. Jones goes mostly hands-off.
Thanks to hosts Mark an Eileen Fischer of Deep Impact Custom Boats, speedonthewater.com publisher and co-founder Matt Trulio joined the group for the most recent Bahamian odyssey. It had been almost 30 years since he traveled—and only to Bimini—to the island paradise. Every day, he published travelogue from the adventure. And he’s returning in August with the Florida Powerboat Club-led Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats group.
But for now, here is the collection of stories he produced.
