Angle Of Attack Marine On Mystic Trajectory

As a client, Miami’s Chris Richards has the Mystic Powerboats line pretty much covered. Richards owns a C4000 catamaran dubbed Angle Of Attack powered by a pair of Mercury Racing 500R outboard engines and a C4400 equipped with a pair of the engine-builder’s 1350 stern-drive mills at Miami Beach Marina, which is just a short walk from his primary home. The DeLand, Fla., company also is building an M5200 center console with quad 600-hp Mercury Marine V-12 outboards for the commercial and private aviation business entrepreneur.
The 52-footer should be ready in time for the Lake of Ozarks Shootout week, where as it happens Mystic debuted M5200 hull No. 1.

But as a business partner, Richards—a successful entrepreneur in the commercial and private aviation and businesses—is just getting started with the custom high-performance center console and catamaran company. He’s opened a sales office called Angle of Attack Marine in Miami Beach Marina for the brand—and more.
“We’ve entered into a sales and marketing partnership where they will be a sales partner,” explained John Cosker, the owner and founder of Mystic. “They will attend poker runs representing Mystic and their other brands. The Miami Beach Marine sales office will be our South Florida sales headquarters.”
Richards’ first Mystic was the 2018 model-year 44-foot cat, and he immediately fell in love with the brand. A few years ago, he spent time researching and taking demo rides in outboard-powered sport catamarans. The C4000 was his favorite.
“I think they are the best built and the safest center consoles and catamarans on the market, which is big deal for me,” Richards said. “You’re not constantly being slapped around when you ride in them. They give you a sense of security and safety.
“I want the people I take out to be safe and feel safe,” he continued. “I want my passengers to know I am doing everything possible for their safety. The last thing I want is for someone to get hurt on my boat.”
Though Richards appreciates the family-oriented nature of the brand, he also believes it can attract more South Florida buyers looking for a bit more edge. To that end, the lifelong powerboat fan is building his M5200 center console as a “demo” boat, and it will boast the green and gray hues of his Lamborghini sportscar.
“I think I can expand the buyer demographic,” he said. “I think the Mystic brand deserves that.
“I don’t expect the M5200 to be a sportscar,” he added. “I expect it to be a sexy Rolls-Royce.”
As part of the Angle Of Attack Marine dealership’s product offerings, Richards recently became the official Miami distributor for the Fliteboard E-foil product line, which is owned by Brunswick Corporation, the parent company of Mercury Racing. He also recently acquired Tarpoon Lagoon Dive Center, which also is located in the Miami Beach Marina.
Looking for an amphibious aircraft? Angle of Attack Marine carries the Cub Crafters line.
But the former New Yorker’s primary focus is Mystic.
“The people at Mystic, John and Robin Cosker, Ryan and Amber Zivitski, are family,” he said. “I want to help their brand reach a greater audience.
“I’m thinking of a slogan for the new business,” he added. “’Why follow when you can lead?’”
Mystic Powerboats will exhibit models at the upcoming Palm Beach International Boat Show, March 19-23.
