Keweenaw Mountain Lodge, a 500-acre resort at the top of the Keweenaw Peninsula surrounded on three sides by Lake Superior, is the headquarters for the newly-designated Keweenaw Dark Sky Park named to the program by the International Dark-Sky Association. It is the third IDA-certified Dark Sky Park in Michigan, and the first in Michigan’s U.P.
“Keweenaw Dark Sky Park offers a unique experience to stargazing in the Midwestern United States,” says Ashley Wilson, IDA’s Director of Conservation. “The historic wilderness lodge allows visitors to view the magnificence of the night sky in a window of the pristine boreal landscape while also having the opportunity to further engage with the nocturnal environment with astrophotography and lighting management workshops.”
The park is a remote, beautiful spot that offers visitors and the community an incredible place to recreate by day and stargaze by night.
