Naples Poker Run Near Capacity
With 301 of its 35 slots filled and a full week to go before it begins, the upcoming Florida Powerboat Club Naples Poker Run is on pace for a sell-out. Limited lodging capacity and at the Naples Hyatt House host-venue and securing a lunch spot capable of handling a larger fleet—and crowd—determined the capacity of the March 20-23 event, according to club president Stu Jones.
Plus, Jones and company haven’t produced a poker run in Naples in more than 10 years. For many of the club’s members, it is a completely new event.

“We already know that we could squeeze more boats in at the Hyatt House, Naples, but it’s high season and our room block is nearly full at this point,” Jones explained. “The other concern is just managing the number of people at the Lunch destination on Saturday. We’re going to the back-waters of Everglades city and visiting a luxury RV resort for lunch. The facilities there max out at 125 guests and we are already at that number.”
“So we are just about at our optimum numbers for this event,” he added.
The on-water fun starts Friday with a lunch run north from Naples to Fort Myers, where participants coming from that area will join the fleet on its return leg. As previously reported, Saturday’s run includes short and long courses to the lunch venue.
Jones also added something unusual—at least when it comes to Florida Powerboat Club events—on the “boating” side of the Naples happening.
Airboats rides.
“A good number of our participants have signed up for the optional airboat tours of the Everglades swamps on Saturday afternoon,” he added. “That will be exciting.”
