Wave And Wheels Taking Doug Wright Catamarans To New Heights
Three fine qualities—insatiable drive, endless creativity and relentless attention to detail—drive Waves And Wheels founder Justin Wagner. What started as a specialty marine and automobile audio outfit on the shores of the Lake of the Ozarks in Osage Beach, Mo., has blossomed into a top-shelf, multi-disciplinary powerboat interior, renovation and painting business with its own line of Bluave audio components.
Those elements, plus Wagner’s devoted team of craftsmen, made Waves And Wheels the perfect dealership for Doug Wright Powerboats, a Melbourne, Fla., company that builds wicked high-performance catamaran hulls and decks but leaves the finish work, from rigging and interior installation to paintwork and set-up, to others. Waves And Wheels had those proven skills long before it became a Doug Wright dealer a few years ago.
The more custom the project, better-suited it is to Wagner and his talented crew. Take the 38-foot Doug Wright catamaran Waves And Waves built out for longtime performance-boat owner. Burgess, who owned everything from Cigarette V-bottoms to a Sunsation center console, lost the use of his legs years ago in snowmobile mishap. Access issues prevented him from buying a catamaran—at least until Waves And Wheels created a 38-footer with a power-flip up dash entry that enables him to get behind the wheel.
In early November 2024, a Doug Wright Waves And Wheels Edition 39 Carbon catamaran was displayed outside the 11th annual Speed On The Water Key West Bash on Greene Street. The 39-footer simply stole the show.
Wagner at his team are hoping the cat will have a similar effect at the Miami International Boat Show next month. The boat will be docked at the show’s Venetian Marina venue and available for demo rides, by reservation of walk in, during the February 12-16 event. It will be the first time Waves And Wheels had displayed a boat at the annual South Florida exhibit.
But if Waves And Wheels remains on its current trajectory, it won’t be the last.
