Maryland DNR Wants to Hear From Striper Anglers
Striped Bass Opinion Surveys
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking angler feedback about Maryland’s striped bass fishery through two different surveys:
Striped Bass Management 2025
Maryland is a member of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC), which manages striped bass on the Atlantic Coast. The Commission’s Atlantic Striped Bass Management Board will meet December 16 to consider changing 2025 management measures to increase the probability of rebuilding the stock by the 2029 deadline. This deadline was established by the Board in Addendum II to Amendment 7 of the Interstate Fishery Management Plan.
Weigh in on the management actions, if any, you believe the Striped Bass Management Board should take to respond to the results of the 2024 Stock Assessment Update. Your Maryland representatives on the Striped Bass Management Board will review the results of this survey in advance of the December 16 meeting.
Submissions must be entered by December 12.
Striped Bass Science
Scientists from a variety of government and non-government organizations will meet for a workshop in February to discuss key factors impacting Striped Bass populations and management needs. This workshop, hosted by Chesapeake Bay Program’s Scientific and Technical Committee, was prompted by concerns from the public, so we have created a short survey for commercial and recreational anglers to help us better understand the public priorities for the agenda.
TAKE A SHORT SURVEY IN ENGLISH OR SPANISH.
Results will be collected through December 18.
Thank you for your time and insights.
