Skater At 50—A Pair Of Historical Women
Thanks to marine finance and insurance man Devin Wozencraft, Yvonne Aleman and Tristan Collins Garvin—a couple of well-known femme fatales in the go-fast boating community—made history together at the 2016 Lake of the Ozarks Shootout. A savvy, boots-on-the-ground marketer, Wozencraft wanted to bring as much as attention to his 2015 model-year Skater Powerboats 30 SS catamaran at the Central Missouri event as possible. The 30-footer was wrapped in Wozencraft Insurance Agency graphics, but Wozencraft wasn’t taking any chances getting the boat noticed.

So rather than run it himself, he asked Collins Garvin to throttle and Aleman to drive the twin Mercury Racing OptiMax 300XS outboard-engine-powered cat on a pass down the course. The female cockpit duo laid down a 99-mph run.
Collins Garvin had competed in the event before. Aleman had not. But both had go-fast boating experience. And they became the first female cockpit duo to pilot a Skater—and likely any boat—in Lake of the Ozarks Shootout competition.

“From the first time I witnessed Tristan running in the Shootout a couple of years ago, I thought I’d love to try that one day,” said Aleman in the days just before the 2016 event. “Tristan is one of my best friends and to see her running down the course blew my mind. I was so impressed.”
