Jackhammer Team To Run AMP 39XR In 500R Factory Stock Class
Though they haven’t determined their Super Stock-class future for the 2025 season, Jackhammer team owner/driver Reese Langheim and throttleman Julian Maldonado are planning to join offshore racing’s 500R Factory Stock ranks next year. Both Maldonado and Langheim confirmed their plans to run a new canopied AMP (American Marine Performance) 39XR catamaran in the category. The 39-foot raceboat will be rigged inside and out by Manatee Marine Unlimited in Palmetto, Fla., which Maldonado co-owns with Langheim’s wife, Sara.

“That’s the plan,” said Reese Langheim.
Added Maldonado, “We’ll go into greater detail in the next few months.”
AMP announced the Jackhammer news in a press release yesterday regarding its new catamaran. The release also stated that the Pompano Beach, Fla., builder had “officially concluded its catamaran-production partnership with Smart Performance Marine and is now bringing its own cutting-edge catamaran series to the market.”
No additional information on the split between the two companies was provided in the release. Reached via email this morning, AMP vice president Walt Braithwaite declined to elaborate on the development.
AMP is building the outboard-powered 39-footer in both pleasure and racing versions.
“This new cat will allow us to compete against the big boys,” Braithwaite said in the release. “This new hull is from a proven race design already on the racecourse.”
The 39-footer will be offered in a pleasure version as well as an offshore raceboat.
