Everything Boating
The second eight-seat, open-cockpit Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats SC 46 catamaran with an all-new deck from the Bristol, R.I., company is ready for paint and on its way to Stephen Miles Design in Owensboro, Ky. The 46-footer is the property of Indiana’s Don and Cara MacLeod. It will be equipped with Mercury Racing 1350/1100 engines after its paintjob is complete and the cat returns to Outerlimits for rigging.
Ready for paint, the newest Outerlimits SC 46 catamaran is in transit from Rhode Island to Kentucky.
The 46-footer will be the second Outerlimits painted by Miles and his team for the MacLeods. The first is an SC 37 catamaran still owned by the couple.
But it is MacLeod’s third boat to boast a Stephen Miles Design paintjob. The first was a pre-owned, extended-cockpit 50-footer they purchased from Canadian Dave Scotto, a multi-time Outerlimits owner.
“We painted the SL 50 X for the Scottos when it was new,” Miles said.
Miles is eager to get started on the 46-footer’s elaborate paintjob.
“We estimate the job will require 1,300 man hours for the boat and all of it parts,” he said. “She’s getting artwork on the underside of all her hatches.”
The open-cockpit beauty will be powered by dual-calibration engines from Mercury Racing.
