Hometown Throwdown: ‘Super Cat – Race For US-1’ Episode No. 2 Now Live

Absolutely! That’s essentially the response from everyone who got a chance to watch the premier of the new “Super Cat – Race For US-1” series after being asked if they enjoyed the 30-plus-minute segment that went live one week ago. The overall response toward the first of four Scrapyard Media-produced episodes has been positive, to say the least. And the expectation from those who did get a sneak peek at episode two, which went live this morning, is that the feedback is only going to get better.

The midseason Super Cat-class action was fierce and it all unfolds in episode No. 2 of Super Cat – Race For US-1.

The overwhelmingly favorable feedback on the Speed On The Water YouTube channel, which is carrying all four segments of the remarkable series, is to be expected as 95 percent of the comments the channel gets are positive. But when racers and racing fans around the country are reaching out to compliment not just the production quality but the storytelling through the eyes of the Dirty Money, M CON/Monster Energy and Team Farnsworth/Hancock Claims Consultants Super Cat-class teams, you know you’ve struck a chord.

Veteran offshore racer Billy Moore, who finished fourth at the Key West Offshore World Championships last week in the Super Cat class alongside owner/driver Chris Grant in the Graydel Skater Powerboats catamaran, said he really enjoyed the first episode. The talented throttleman called the series “good for the sport” after finishing the storm-shortened 2024 season in fifth place overall in the Super Cat-class national championship standings.

“Being a competitor, I like watching the different (teams’) perspectives,” said Moore, who also raced with the Team DeFalco Class 1 team this season and was all smiles after taking home the first Pro Class 1 world championship in Key West, Fla., on Sunday afternoon. “This kind of stuff is good for the sport. It needs a little drama sometimes for people to get into it. There always has to be a good guy vs. bad guy thing. I know that’s why people watch certain TV shows. They pick a character they like and when they don’t like them, they watch just to see what happens.”

Moore said he’s looking forward to sitting down later today to watch Hometown Throwdown, the second episode of “Super Cat – Race For US-1.”

Another racer who is sure to watch the new episode and hear from friends and fellow competitors throughout the day as they watch it is Brit Lilly—the “hometown” racer inspiring the Hometown Throwdown title.

The second-generation offshore racer—spoiler alert—is coming off the high of winning the 2024 Super Cat world championship in Key West on Sunday with Dirty Money throttleman Bill Pyburn. He said he got the chance to watch the first episode while he was in Key West last week and called it “absolutely awesome.”

“The (Scrapyard Media team) has really done well sharing our story inside Super Cat,” Lilly said. “It’s the best production I have seen.”

Just wait until he watches today’s episode, which, in this author’s opinion, is more engaging than the first one.

In fact, I’m eager to hear what performance boat enthusiast and offshore racing fan Greg Harris has to say after he watches it. Harris, who never hesitates to provide constructive criticism, called the first episode “top notch.”

He added: “And I know it’s building to the drama that the season had.” So he can only imagine how the next three episodes will play out.
