Lockyer To Drive Cortez Cove/Fountain Super V In Key West Worlds

Between earning the 2024 United Kingdom Offshore Powerboat Racing Association Championship in the organization’s premiere class with a perfect season and taking the first leg of the venerable Cowes-Torquay-Cowes race produced by the British Powerboat Racing Club, it’s already been a remarkable year for Rob Lockyer. Now the indomitable Brit has his eyes on another prize—helping to bring home a Super V-class world championship for his friend and Super V team owner Simon Williams in the Cortez Cove/Fountain Racing raceboat.

Lockyer will throttle the 40-foot Fountain Powwrboats V-bottom tomorrow in the first day of competition at the Race World Offshore Key West Offshore World Championships alongside driver Kirk Britto.

The duo will square off against throttleman Anthony Smith and driver Elijah Kingery in Team Farnsworth/Hancock Claims Consultants—another 40-foot Fountain—and throttleman Bill McComb and driver Ed Wendt in Race Winning Brands, a unique 39-foot Skater Powerboats V-bottom.

Tomorrow’s racing conditions will be sporty. The current marine forecast for Key West calls for three- to five-foot seas and southeast winds between 15 to 20 knots.

“I am really looking forward to it,” said Lockyer, who is no stranger to rough water and windy conditions. “They’ve done an incredible job with the boat.”
