Earlier this month, a freighter bound for Florida departed São Paulo, Brazil, carrying special cargo—the first Statement Marine 44 GTrs center console built in South America. The new 44-footer, which was developed in a marketing partnership between Statement company owner Nick Buis and Randy Sweers of The Marine Group, is slated to arrive during the second week of October.

“Hopefully it will make it to the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in time, but it will definitely be here for the Key West Poker Run in November,” Sweers said. “Her owner has been waiting patiently and is looking forward to the Key West run.

“Hulls No. 2 and No. 3 will be completed in the next 45 to 60 days, and like the first 44 will be powered by quint Mercury Racing 500R outboards,” continued. “We currently have 10 boats in construction at the Brazil facility.”

Sweers is currently in São Paulo. Earlier today, he tested Statement 396 catamaran No. 3 for the first time.

“It ran awesome,” he said. “And it handled great. I am very pleased with our progress and how the cat ran today.”
