Powered By Performance Invitational And Sunny Sunday Combine Big Event-Weekend

Outside of the annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in late August, weekends at the Central Missouri waterway don’t get much busier—at least when it comes to organized events—than the one that just passed. Proof positive?

Even Brett Manire, the ever-energetic co-owner of Performance Boat Center in Osage Beach, Mo., is already looking forward to next Sunday fun day, when he and his daughter, McKinley, and fiancé Kaitlyn Kristal, can just chill on the water with fellow Performance Boat Center man Myrick Coil and his family.

“I am dragging today, but what an awesome weekend,” Manire said as he drove to work after dropping off his daughter at summer camp this morning. “With our two-day, Powered by Performance Invitational Fun Run Friday and Saturday, the Big Thunder Marine Cigarette event ‘Sunny Sunday’ for Sunsation Boats owners, there was a lot going on here at the lake.”

Said Coil, “I was giving demo rides all weekend in the P-360 cat. It seemed like I never got out of the boat.”

Performance Boat Center has the perfect setup for organizer and producing its own events

New this year, the Powered by Performance Invitational Fun Run attracted a 60-boat mix of MTI, Performance Powerboats and Sunsation—all go-fast boat brands carried by the full-service dealership—models on both days. Friday saw the fleet head to Tap and Grill for lunch, which generally limits its swimming pool to adults but opened it to children for the Performance Boat Center happening. On Saturday, the group headed first to The Cave Bar and Grill.

The Saturday group stopped at The Cave Bar and Grill for lunch and social time.

“It blows my mind how busy The Cave is—it’s like being at an airport when all the planes come in to land,” said Manire. “But it’s so well-designed you can find your own space and chill.

“After The Cave, we went to the Bear Bottom Resort waterpark,” he continued. “Then we went back to Performance Boat Center and finished up with dinner for 250 guests in our showroom.”

Through activities such as ice-bucket challenges and more, the event raised more than $36,000 for Missouri chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation by the time it ended on Saturday night.

“So many of our Performance Boat Center customers have made lifelong friends at our events,” said Manire. “A few of them even got up and spoke about it at the dinner that night.”

Lake of the Ozarks event-weekends don’t get any busier than the one that just passed.

The weekend, however, was far from finished. A pack of 13 or 14 Sunsation center consoles, according to Manire, ran to Dog Days late Sunday morning for the Sunny Sunday happening. Then the group headed to Paradise Bar and Grill, where Manire them to snacks and adult beverages.

Ryan Wenk, the national sales manager for the Algonac, Mich., center-console company, and production manager Aaron Treppa were in town for both events last weekend.

“The weekend was great,” said Wenk. “It was a long one as we also did the Sunny Sunday event yesterday, but it was awesome for our customers come out and show support both events.”

Added Manire, “It was nothing but smiles this weekend.”

The weekend closed on a high note with Sunny Sunday.
