Two Doug Wright 450R Factory Stock Teams See Cockpit Changes In Ocean City Grand Prix
While yesterday’s unofficial results from the four-team Factory 450R Stock contest in Ocean City, Md., saw teams running 38-foot Doug Wright Powerboats place first, second and third, the biggest news out of the Race World Offshore-produced event involves cockpit pairing in Doug Wright camp.

The throttleman for the Montlick Injury Attorneys 38-footer, Ricky Maldonado has been replaced by Gary Ballough. The veteran offshore racer confirmed his exit from the team via text message yesterday.
“I left four days ago, Wednesday at 4 p.m.,” he wrote. Maldonado declined to comment further.
The new cockpit-paring of driver Logan Adan and throttleman Ballough notched an unofficial second-place in yesterday’s race.
Doug Wright Powerboats owners’ group member J.R. Adan had not responded to a text-message request for comment regarding the cockpit-crew change when this story went live.
Running a 38-foot Doug Wright cat, the new DougWright Defalco of owner/driver Mike Falco and throttleman, which also campaigns a Class 1 team, took yesterday’s also still-unofficial victory.
On scene as a member of the Race World Offshore livestream broadcast team, speedonthewater.com offshore racing correspondent Eric Colby said Falco did not comment on his long-term plans in either class.
Racing begins today at noon. Fans can catch all the action live on the Race World Offshore Facebook page and YouTube channel. Look for a comprehensive report on the Ocean City event tomorrow morning on speedonthewater.com.
