DCB Delivers M37R For Guatemala-Based Buyer
With its M37R catamaran, DCB Performance Marine has built a national audience, a longtime goal for the Arizona-based company founded 34 years ago in El Cajon, Calif. The custom high-performance catamaran builder’s hotbed still remains in the west of the Mississippi, but now DCB has M37R owners in states such as Florida, Indiana and New York. DCB’s long-sought eastern migration is happening.
Delivered to Miami for its first sea trial, DCB 37R No. 25 is now in Guatemala.
But expanding to Central America? That wasn’t necessarily on the DCB to-do list. That changed with the recent delivery a 37-footer to Guatemala for customer Miguel Arriaza, who has a second home in Miami.
The boat reached Guatemala—via container ship of course—on a tandem-axle Adrenaline trailer.
Ready for the ship.
“Yeah, we didn’t necessarily see that one coming,” Jeff Johnston, the president of DCB, said then chuckled. “We delivered it to Miami two weeks ago and the boat just arrived in Guatemala.
“It’s M37R hull No. 25,” he added.

A pair of Mercury Racing 500R with custom DCB carbon-fiber engine cowling scoops power the vacuum-infused, foam-cored carbon-fiber catamaran. The 500-hp, V-8 outboards are mounted on brackets from Five-Star, a company located in Upstate New York.
The six-seat boat boasts options including, one 22-inch and two 12-inch Garmin GPS units, a Stage IV JL Audio sound system, digital throttles and throttles, color-changing interior LED lighting and more.
DCB’s Tony Chiaramonte (right0 familiarized Arriaza with his new 37-footer.
But in another first for the Phoenix-headquartered builder, the cat has a less flashy but decidedly functional option for its operating environment.
An Bimini top.
“Yeah, we didn’t necessarily see that coming either—that was a new one for an M37R,” Johnson said, then chuckled again. “But we were more than happy to do it. We are a custom boat-builder.”
