Mystic Owners Bahamas-Hopping This Week
Locals and visitors strolling the docks at Sailfish Marina in Palm Beach, Fla., tomorrow morning will be treated to a brand-specific high-performance boat show thanks to Mystic Powerboats and 15 of its adventurous clients. The full-service marina is the departure point for the second year Mystic Powerboats owners trek to the Bahamas.

“This is the sixth one we’ve built and it has the new bigger cabin,” said John Cosker, the owner and founder of the Deland, Fla., company. “It’s the nicest one we’ve built so far—we’re getting better and better at building them.”
Cosker paused and chuckled. “You know, we’ve already built more 52s than M4400 catamarans, the one that led to the outboard C4000,” he said. “We built for of the stern-drive 4400s.”
Of the 15 owners and their guests embarking on the four-day Bahamas adventure, only 25 percent are returning Mystic owners from last year’s event. Until a week ago, the run was approaching its 20-boat limit but several owners had to drop out thanks to high-school and college graduation ceremonies, according to the Mystic principal.
Cosker understood that completely. In fact, he scheduled the trip for this coming weekend rather than a week from now—as he originally planned—because his daughter, Rachel, is graduating the weekend after the Bahamas run.
The party-barge raft-up is returning this year.
Cosker said that, among other activities this week, he’s looking forward to repeating the daylong raft-up at Grand Bahama, where a party-barge supplies all the food and drink for the day. His wife, Robin, as well as a Mystic national sales manager Greg Weber and his wife, Sherry, will be joining the Coskers and 10 other guests on the spacious new M5200.
“It’s a big boat,” he said, then laughed again. “And it looks like the crossing from Florida to the Bahamas is going to be pretty calm.”
