Image Of The Week: Perfect Composure In The Florida Keys
The MTI Owners Run to Hawks Cay Resort in the Florida Keys earlier this month yielded loads of fine action shots for photographer Tom Leigh, but one of the true stand-outs captures an MTI-V 42 center console sitting still. And it’s a shoe-in for the 2024 Speed On The Water Year In Review magazine. (Yes, we’re already working on it.)

The 42-footer is a silver beauty, for sure, but that’s not what makes the image so compelling. Working with perfect, soft light, Leigh used the background details to frame the boat, which appears as artwork.
In photographer-speak, they call it composition. I just call it remarkable.
As a lucky guy who has pored through countless powerboat image during the years, Leigh’s capture is without question my favorite dock-shot. It might be yours, too, it also might not—eye of the beholder, right?
But its pure beauty is undeniable.
