New Lake Michigan Shipwreck Discovery to Be Revealed During Annual Film Festival

The Michigan Shipwreck Research Association will reveal the identity of its latest shipwreck discovery at a live event — a first for the association. The announcement will take place at the annual 2024 Mysteries and Histories Beneath the Inland Seas film festival in Holland, Michigan held at the Knickerbocker Theater on March 23, 2024.
“For our past 18 shipwreck discoveries, we have always told the media first, and then offered details and shared underwater video at our annual event,” said Valerie van Heest, a board member and MSRA founder, reports MLive. “We thought the public would enjoy hearing about it directly from the discovery team.”
The only clue MSRA has revealed is that the shipwreck was found deep in Lake Michigan. Other presentations at the event include “Discovery of the Trinidad,” the story of how Brendon Baillod and Bob Jaeck discovered the schooner Trinidad. Dan Fountain will be sharing stories about the WWII-era Arlington in “He Went Down the the Ship,” and the “Tuskegee Airmen Project” details the wreck of a Bell P-39 Airacobra lost during a WWII training mission.
