Gallery Of The Week: Tuesday Test Sessions In Key West – Speed on the Water
The first of three races in the Race World Offshore Key West World Championship begins this morning with Bracket-class competition. As previously reported, race No. 1 today—as well as on Friday and Sunday—will be followed in short order by a two-start contest featuring six Class 1 teams and nine Mod V teams.

Many of the almost 80 teams—not to be confused with almost 100 teams—in town this week took advantage of yesterday’s mostly flat conditions with just a breath of breeze creasing the water.
Of course, as is appropriate given up the ferocity of Key West competition, no one who tested yesterday was giving up any secrets for today’s competition—least of all on the record to a reporter.
Tyler Miller and Myrick Coil have a Super Cat title to defend this week.
Tyler Miler, the owner/and throttleman of the M CON/Monster Energy Super Cat and Monster Energy/M CON teams was the most revealing of the three racers I checked with yesterday.
“Testing was successful yesterday with both boats,” he said. “The team did an outstanding job and water conditions were favorable to not tear up equipment on the opening day. Both boats ready to for battle today.”
Vinnie Diorio, the owner of the SV Offshore Racing/Rollin Transport was equally insightful.

“It was awesome,” he said. “It’s like a different boat.”
Grant Bruggemann, the throttleman for the Super Cat Valder Yachts/Pro Floors Racing and Class 1 XINSURANCE team, shared a similar level of deep insight.
“Everything was great,” he said.
All in good fun, of course. Today’s action should be spectacular.
