Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix Update: Changes In Mod V And Super Stock Results
Officials who collaborated on technical inspections and racing rules at the Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix this past weekend handed out some penalties that changed some results originally reported by speedonthewater.com.

First, in the Mod-V race, the team of owner/driver Travis Pettko and throttleman Rob Hartmann in the 30-foot Phantom, Laticrete, was handed the checkered flag from officials on the finish boat. At the awards banquet on Sunday evening, the win was given to the 30-foot Extreme, LSB RevX Oil/Speed Marine that was throttled by Jay Wohltman and driven by Kyle Miller. Laticrete wound up second.
“At the end of the race, after review of footage and cameras, it was given to LSB,” said interim chief referee Todd DeFilipps.
“We ran a good race,” said Hartmann. “I know what I did on the course.”
The Super Stock results from Saturday were also changed after there were four yellow cards handed out for lane infractions. One yellow card is a one-lap penalty. After the first start, three teams were all penalized a lap. When the race re-started after LPC flipped another team received a yellow card.
With 12 boats on the water Saturday, the Super Stock class had the largest fleet of the weekend.
This rearranged the positions on the podium. CMR still won, but Jackhammer moved up to second and CoCo’s Monkey fell to third.
Fans hoping for final results in the 450R Factory Stock class will need to be patient. With the pace boat leading the boats off course, there were a few bumps and washdowns and officials are still reviewing data.
“There are no results as of now,” said DeFilipps. “The teams have agreed to send us their onboard footage so we can review it.”
Possible driving infractions during the 450R Factory Stock class contest—the final race of the weekend—is still under review.
This is a developing story, Speedonthewater.com will continue to provide updates as they become available.
