Kuttawa Cannonball Run Organizers Setting Hard Stop For Online Registration
Ask any high-performance powerboat event organizer what makes the job most challenging and you’ll get the same answer: last-minute registration. Participant sign-up procrastination/indecision makes booking hotel-room blocks, setting up meals and even ordering event-themed T-shirts difficult, especially at is applies to planning and cost control.

So the organizers of the seventh annual Kuttawa Cannonball Run, set this year for June 2-3 this year in Old Kuttawa, Ky., have decided to close online registration on Sunday, May 21, at midnight.
The deadline is meant to encourage online registration in the next week and a half.
“Online registration really speeds up the check-in process,” explained Terry Martin, who produces the event each year with Jeff Hoefling of Lively Machine Co. and Stephen Miles of Stephen Miles Design. “Forms are already completed—you just check in, get your goody bag and go boating. That’s why we’re there right? We’re trying to gain efficiencies in our process. Less time standing on the shore registering makes for a great event.”
Current registration stands at 109 boats. The organizing team is expecting the event to top out at 120 to 130 boats.
“We have a number of walk-up registrations Friday and Saturday,” Hoefling said. “But closing online registration on May 21 helps us to make it more manageable.”
